Part 4: Traffic on the highway – Rules of the road

Driving rules exist to ensure your safety, the safety of your passengers, and all other drivers sharing our roads and highways.

Remember, it is an offence for any person to fail to comply with an order, a signal or a dir- ection of a peace officer or to fail to observe the instructions of any official traffic sign or signal except when otherwise directed by a peace officer. DID YOU KNOW?… Possession and use of radar detectors is illegal in New Brunswick.

4.1 Collisions

A driver involved in a collision causing death, injury and/or property damage must stop at the scene of the collision. They must provide their name, address, plate number of their vehicle, driver’s licence and liability insurance card to the other party or parties involved in the collision.

First at the scene Remember, handling the injured must be avoided unless there is added danger of being struck by oncoming motorists.
